Trekfest

•
On the 6th and 7th June I travelled down to South Wales with Global Adventure Challenges. This is the third year I've worked with the GAC guys on Trekfest where people from all over the country come to the Brecon Beacons National Park to put themselves through an unforgiving yet rewarding experience for charity.

Global Adventure Challenges facilitate two trekking events for the participants: 54 miles in 24 hours and 29 miles in 12 hours - both routes through the forest, over the mountain ranges and through the welsh towns and villages. The trekkers are so admirable and selfless doing this for charities close to their hearts and it's my job to document their journey - from the smiling, bacon butty stuffing excitement in the morning through to the tears, exhaustion and blisters upon blisters upon blisters at the very bitter end. I do feel a bit mean at the finish-line photographing them as they hobble past me to collect their medals and be greeted by cheering friends and family. Most are barely able to bend their knees or put much pressure on the soles of their feet - they are close to tears but it's my job to show the event in all its glory and to deter anyone from thinking it's simply a walk in the park, though i think I make up for it for all the cheery smiles and encouragement along the rest of the way.

These are a handful of my favourite photos from their journey last weekend - the rest will be shared by the organisers  :)
